Install scoco as an app
Put scoco on your home screen through Share in Safari or with one tap in Chrome on Android, and the icon opens your Inbox directly, without a browser bar.
When you are done, scoco sits as an icon on the home screen of your phone or tablet. One tap opens it without a browser bar, straight into your Inbox. It is the same scoco as in the browser, with the same data. Nothing is installed from an app store.
The hint inside scoco
On iPhone and iPad, scoco offers the install by itself; on Android, when Chrome offers it. The hint appears once you have used scoco on that device for about three minutes, and only on Overview, Inbox, Contacts or Appointments. If you move to another page, such as a call or a setting, it goes away. It may come back another day. On its own it appears at most three times on this device, and never twice within 20 hours.
- Install is there on Android when Chrome offers the install. It opens your browser's own install dialog.
- Show me how shows the steps for exactly your browser on iPhone and iPad.
- Hide or the cross (Close hint) ends the hint. scoco remembers this for your account, on all your devices.
You can always find the guide under More
iPhone and iPad
- Open scoco in Safari and sign in.
- Tap Share. On an iPhone with iOS 26, Share usually sits behind ••• next to the address. On older iPhones it is at the bottom, on an iPad at the top right.
- Scroll to “Add to Home Screen” and tap it.
- Tap “Add”. On an iPhone with iOS 26, leave “Open as Web App” switched on.
From then on, open scoco from the new icon. From iOS 17.2 you stay signed in. On an older version, sign in once inside the app, because the app keeps its data separate from Safari.
In Chrome on iPhone and iPad (from iOS 16.4), tap Share at the right of the address bar, then “Add to Home Screen” and “Add” as above. In other browsers, such as Firefox or Edge, scoco asks you to open the page in Safari.
Android
If the hint shows Install, tap it and confirm in your browser's dialog. Declining there counts the same as Hide.
Without that button, for example in Firefox, More
- Open your browser's menu (three dots or three lines).
- Choose “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”.
- Confirm with “Install”.
On a computer
scoco shows no hint on a computer. Chrome offers the install there by itself, through an icon in the address bar. Afterwards scoco opens without a browser bar.
What the app does and does not do
Everything as in the browser. Every page and every number comes fresh from scoco. For when there is no network, the app keeps a single page ready; it does not store any data in between.
Not offline. scoco needs an internet connection. If a page fails to load without a network, the app shows a page with Try again. As soon as you are back online, it reloads by itself.
No push notifications. scoco sends no push notifications, not to the installed app either. scoco tells you about new calls by email and, if you want, by text message: see Notifications.
Common problems
The hint does not appear. You may have hidden it already, or it has appeared three times. You may not have used scoco on this device for three minutes yet. Or scoco is already installed on another device of the same kind, meaning iPhone or iPad, or Android. On Android it only appears when Chrome offers the install. And it may already have appeared in the last 20 hours. Open More
Install as an app is missing under More. You are already using scoco as an app, or you are in another app's built-in browser. On wide screens, such as an iPad in landscape, there is no bar with More. There, Install as an app is in the menu at the bottom left of the sidebar, behind your name or the person icon.
On the iPhone, the hint only says to open Safari. You are in a different browser. Open the same address in Safari.
The app asks you to sign in. On iPhone and iPad before iOS 17.2, the app does not take over your sign-in from Safari. Sign in once inside the app.
