16:10, an eye test in progress. The customer is in the test room, and out front the phone is ringing.
The AI secretary for your opticians
scoco.ai captures enquiries in structured form, books released appointments into your Google or Outlook calendar, and routes to the right branch or person. No assessment of vision problems, no diagnosis, no price commitments.
You cannot pick up without interrupting a consultation.
An eye test and a fitting consultation are not things you break off briefly — the customer in the test room is waiting, and so is the one on the phone. And most of the calls are routine: when will my glasses be ready, when can I come in for an eye test, are you open on Saturday, which branch does contact lenses. None of it needs a qualified optician on the line, and all of it interrupts one.
How much advisory time is the phone costing you?
Advisory time interrupted25hours a month, based on 25 opening days
scoco.ai: from €49 per month (plus VAT).
A scenario with your own numbers — move the sliders.
Five calls you know
Each card captures two details and ends in a result for the team — not in a callback note.
Eye test and appointment
“I could do with another eye test.” scoco takes the name, the request, the preferred window and the branch they want, and books into a genuinely free slot in your calendar, within the hours you have released.
Result for the team: the appointment is made without anybody leaving the test room.
Contact lenses
“I need new lenses” or “I’d like to be fitted.” scoco tells a reorder from a fitting, takes the lens as the customer names it, the quantity and the callback number, and books the fitting as an appointment. No statement about suitability, prescription strength or tolerance.
Result for the team: an order line or a fitting appointment, instead of a note with half a product name on it.
Collection
“Are my glasses ready?” The most common call of the day. scoco takes the name and callback number and hands it to the branch. It gives no status — it does not know your workshop.
Result for the team: a callback with a name, instead of the same customer ringing three times.
Repair and complaint
“The arm has snapped off.” scoco takes the frame as the customer describes it, what is wrong, when they bought it as they state it, and the callback number, then follows your rule: appointment or handover. No statement about warranty, goodwill or cost.
Result for the team: the job is prepared before the customer is standing in the shop.
Branch and standard question
“Which branch does contact lenses? Are you open on Saturdays? Where can I park?” scoco answers from your knowledge base and routes by the branch rule you have set.
Result for the team: the customer reaches the right location without being transferred three times.
What reaches the branch
Text message to the Mitte branch, 16:12:
scoco - Contact lens fitting - Optik Muster Customer: Mr Daniel F. Callback: 0157 4443322 Branch: Mitte (as requested by customer) Appointment type: fitting, first time Preference: next week, afternoons Customer states: currently wears glasses, wants lenses for sport Entered in calendar: Thu, 15:30 Received: 16:12 Full text in the inbox
Branch, appointment type, time window and contact are all there in structured form. What the customer said about their sight is shown as their own account — it is not assessed.
Two routes instead of a pile of callbacks.
Either scoco settles it there and then: booking an appointment into a genuinely free slot in your calendar, answering a standard question from your knowledge base. Or it hands over in order: request, context and callback preference into the team inbox, by text message to the right branch, or put through with a spoken note. A third route — “please leave a message” — is exactly the one that no longer exists.
Three ways to start without risk.
Outside opening hours only
Evenings, Sundays and Mondays when you are closed. Appointment requests for tomorrow come in tonight, and that is when you would otherwise have voicemail.
Only when nobody picks up
The forwarding kicks in after a few seconds. If somebody is free at the counter, they answer as always.
For defined call types
scoco answers first, handles appointments and standard questions, and passes on everything your rules say belongs with a person.
Your practice software
Live and verified: Google and Microsoft calendars, Google and Microsoft contacts, the scoco team inbox, and handover by text message and email. We have no connection to optician software — it is on our list to look at, and we say no more than that about it.
- Iproon request
- OPAon request
- optixxlon request
- AMPAREXon request
Your optician software is not connected. What works today: the appointment lands in your Google or Outlook calendar, the complete enquiry goes by text message to the right branch and by email to the office, and everything is in the team inbox as well. Your team enters it into the specialist system when creating the record anyway — only then with complete details.
What scoco.ai expressly does not do for you
Nothing is assessed on your phone. scoco captures, books and hands over — by the rules you have released.
- No diagnosis and no treatment recommendation.
- No medical assessment of a vision problem. Anyone reporting sudden loss of vision, flashes or pain is handed over by your rule and directed to a person.
- No statement about the strength, suitability or tolerance of a lens.
- No price commitment and no statement about cover, warranty or goodwill.
- No status information about an order or a repair. scoco does not know your workshop.
- No booking into times the calendar does not show as free.

Transparent usage

An extra person purely for the phone does not pay for itself in a shop with two consultation spaces — and that is why nobody answers during an eye test. Work it out against the advisory time the phone takes from you: the calculator above does that with your own numbers. scoco.ai costs from €49 per month and takes several calls at once.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Doesn’t it sound like a robot?
Judge for yourself — call our demo opticians or play the voice samples. Four voices, with the name and tone you choose. For honesty’s sake the AI always says in the greeting that it is an AI; the EU AI Act has required that since August 2026.
Does the system understand our trade terms?
You store your own terms — appointment types, services, lens types, branch names. What you enter, scoco uses; what you do not enter, it does not invent, it takes as a callback request. We give no blanket assurance that every technical word is reliably recognised — we would only say that after a test corpus of our own.
Doesn’t this just create more callbacks?
Two routes, no third. Either the appointment is in the calendar — then there is nothing left to do. Or you get a complete handover with branch, appointment type, request and a callback number that was read back digit by digit.
What happens with complaints or urgent matters?
scoco assesses nothing. It records what the customer describes and follows the rule you have set: put through, notify immediately, or hand over with priority. Where acute vision problems are described, it directs the caller to a person.
Can it book into our software?
No. scoco books appointments into your Google or Outlook calendar. Ipro, OPA, optixxl and AMPAREX are on our list to look at, but none of them is connected, and we do not claim otherwise.
How do we start without risk?
Outside opening hours first. For two weeks scoco answers only in the evenings and on Sundays; nothing changes in the shop. You read the transcripts as they come in and adjust the knowledge base and the rules. Four weeks are free, with no payment details.
What does it cost?
From €49 per month (plus VAT), for 500 included minutes. Cancellable monthly, no setup fee, no hardware.
