scoco.ai

Ten past nine, you are in a hearing. Back at the firm the phone is ringing, and it could be the court or opposing counsel.

The AI secretary for your law firm

scoco.ai takes calls by your own scripts, captures the matter and the parties in structured form, and hands every case over with a clear next step. No legal advice, no promise of representation, no calculating of deadlines — and no decision about a conflict of interest.

The call that goes unanswered is rarely the unimportant one.

Whoever is in a hearing or with a client cannot pick up. Nor can the legal secretary if she is working on the same file. And the first-time caller who reaches voicemail rings the next firm — an instruction is interchangeable as long as none exists yet. At the same time nothing wrong may be said on a law firm’s phone, so the real question is not whether somebody answers, but what they are allowed to say.

Example scenario

What is the phone really costing you?

Non-billable time€6,125per month, based on 21 working days

scoco.ai: from €49 per month (plus VAT).

A scenario with your own numbers — move the sliders.

Four callers, four different rules

Four groups ring your number, and three of them may learn different amounts. What each one learns is set by you.

  • Prospective client

“I’ve got something I need a solicitor for.” scoco takes the contact, the area of law, the parties, the matter, the dates the caller gives and when they can be reached. No assessment of prospects, no promise of representation, no calculating of deadlines.

Result for the firm: a structured first enquiry with all the parties named — the basis for the conflict check you carry out yourself.

  • Existing client

“I wanted to ask how my matter is going.” scoco takes the name, the file reference as the caller gives it, the request and where to call back, and routes it to the responsible team. Nothing from the file is disclosed — scoco cannot check who is calling.

Result for the firm: a task with the right team, with context, instead of a voicemail with no file reference.

  • The other side

“I’m ringing about your letter of the third.” scoco captures the identity as given, the party, what it relates to, the contact and the request, and forwards it by your rule. No substantive information, no assessment, no negotiation.

Result for the firm: the call is documented and allocated, and nobody has accidentally said anything.

  • Court and authorities

“This is the registry, it’s about case 4 O …” scoco captures the organisation, the person, the case reference, how they can be reached and the urgency they state, and puts it through with priority by your rule.

Result for the firm: the call that must not wait does not wait — and you know what it is about before you pick up.

  • The call that is none of the four

Sales calls, job applications, press. scoco asks what it is about and handles each category by the rule you have set for it — usually: take it down politely, do not put it through.

Result for the firm: a line in the inbox instead of an interruption in a client meeting.

What an intake looks like

Text message to the team responsible, 09:12:

scoco - First enquiry tenancy - Firm Muster
Caller: Mr Jens B.
Callback: 0170 3334455, reachable from 16:00
Area of law per caller: tenancy
Parties per caller: landlady Ms S.,
Muster GmbH managing agents
Matter: Received notice to quit, wants it
reviewed
Date per caller: letter dated 08.08.
Note: deadline NOT calculated, caller's
statement recorded only
Received: 09:12
Full text in the inbox

The line “deadline not calculated” appears on every handover exactly like that. A date the caller gives is recorded and marked as the caller’s own statement — nothing is computed from it.

Four low-risk ways to start.

  • Outside office hours only

The classic way in. From 6 pm and at weekends scoco answers; during the day nothing changes. You read the transcripts as they come in and adjust the scripts.

  • Only when the line is busy

Your secretariat stays the first port of call. Anyone who would otherwise get the engaged tone is recorded in full and allocated.

  • As a front office for the partner

Known contacts ring through as always, unknown callers are asked what it is about, and sales calls land as a summary in the inbox.

The demo call: please use an invented set of facts.

When you test our demo firm, do not use real names, real file references or any deadline-bound detail from a live matter. An invented tenancy case shows exactly the same thing. This is not a formality: a test call is a call, and a call produces a transcript.

Your practice management software

Live and verified: Google and Microsoft calendars, Google and Microsoft contacts, the scoco team inbox, and handover by text message and email. We have no connection to a legal practice system, and we do not claim one either.

  • RA-MICROon request
  • DATEV Anwalt classicon request
  • Advowareon request
  • AnNoText, ReNoStaron request

Your practice management software is not directly connected. What works today: the call is handled by caller type, goes to the right place by text message and email, and sits complete in the team inbox. For the call that counts — the first enquiry at quarter past six — that is precisely the part that matters.

What scoco.ai expressly does not do in your firm

These limits are the reason the rest is reliable — and they are set in the script, not left to the model.

  • No legal advice. No view on the legal position, on prospects of success, or on what to do next.
  • No calculating of deadlines and no deadline information. A date the caller gives is recorded and marked as their statement, nothing more.
  • No promise of representation and no statement about fees or terms.
  • No decision about a conflict of interest. Parties are recorded so that you can check.
  • No disclosure of anything from a file to a caller. scoco cannot establish who is calling.
  • No substantive information to the other side.

An extra legal secretary purely for the phone is rarely economic in a firm of this size — and at quarter past six, when the first enquiry comes in, she has gone home anyway. So do not work it out against a salary, work it out against your hourly rate: the calculator above does that with your own numbers. scoco.ai costs from €49 per month.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

This breaches our duty of confidentiality.

That question is decided by the chain of processors, not by a GDPR badge. So, concretely: no call recordings are created, only a transcript and a summary, with defined retention periods and deletion on request. Servers in Falkenstein, processing in the EU, a data processing agreement under Article 28 GDPR. You can have the list of our sub-processors on request, so you can check yourself.

The AI gives legal advice.

It is not allowed to and it does not. Every substantive question gets the same answer: take it down, allocate it, book a callback. What scoco takes on is front-office work — answering, capturing in structured form, forwarding.

A deadline must never be wrong.

Which is why none is calculated here. If a caller gives a date, it is recorded and expressly marked as their statement — every handover says that nothing was computed. The deadline is determined by your firm, as before.

What about conflicts of interest?

scoco collects the parties the caller names and hands them over. The check stays with you. There is no automatic conflict decision, and we would not sell you one.

Clients want to speak to a person.

The real alternative at quarter past six is voicemail. scoco answers when you are in a hearing, says openly in the greeting that an AI is speaking, and puts calls through under your rules. Anyone who wants to speak to you personally gets a callback with the full context.

This doesn’t fit our practice management software.

It is not connected, and we would rather tell you now. The call reaches the right place by text message and email and sits complete in the team inbox; you transfer it into the specialist system as before, only with complete details instead of a callback note.

What does it cost?

From €49 per month (plus VAT), for 500 included minutes. Four weeks free, no payment details. Cancellable monthly, no setup fee.
