Setting up call forwarding at Vodafone (mobile, landline, cable)
On Vodafone mobile you set up call forwarding with a key code — **61*<target number>**25#, for instance, forwards after 25 seconds. Landline and cable connections use their own codes with one star fewer. And because that is searched for so often, up front: to switch it off, type ##002# — it clears every forwarding rule at once, voicemail included.
First: the three kinds of forwarding
Calls can be forwarded immediately (your phone stops ringing altogether), when busy (the second caller does not end up on a busy tone) or on no answer (delayed — you get to pick up first). The standard case for a business is the combination of delayed, when busy and when unreachable: everything stays as it was, only voicemail is replaced. The basics of every connection route are explained in "Setting up call forwarding: the four routes and their pitfalls"; the steps for other providers are in "Setting up call forwarding at Telekom", "Setting up call forwarding with o2" and "Setting up call forwarding with 1&1".
Mobile: forwarding by key code
The codes are a network standard (GSM), not a Vodafone speciality. Here is how you go about it:
- Have the target number ready — the number calls are forwarded to.
- Type the code into the phone app like a normal phone number.
- Press the call button — the network confirms with a message on the display.
| Purpose | Activate | Switch off |
|---|---|---|
| All calls | **21*<target number># | ##21# |
| When busy | **67*<target number># | ##67# |
| On no answer (e.g. 25 s) | **61*<target number>**25# | ##61# |
| When unreachable | **62*<target number># | ##62# |
| Clear every forwarding rule | — | ##002# |
The delay before an unanswered call is forwarded can be set between 5 and 30 seconds in steps of 5; 20–25 seconds is a proven middle ground. Alternatively, forwarding can be set up in the settings of iPhone and Android. Vodafone's help pages describe no click path in MeinVodafone for mobile; they give the key codes (as of 2 November 2026).
Switching call forwarding off again
The most common case after setting it up: the forwarding is to go again — after a holiday, for instance.
- Type
##002#and press the call button: this clears every forwarding rule at once. - To switch off selectively:
##21#(all calls),##67#(busy),##61#(no answer),##62#(unreachable). - To check, call from a second phone: if your phone rings normally again, the forwarding is gone.
Note: on a mobile, voicemail is itself a forwarding on no answer. The new forwarding replaces it, and ##002# deletes it too — to get voicemail back, set its forwarding up again.
Landline and cable: by key code on the phone
For landline and cable connections, Vodafone's help pages describe forwarding by key code, typed on the phone connected to the Vodafone router. The landline codes have one star fewer than the mobile codes:
| Purpose | Activate | Switch off |
|---|---|---|
| All calls | *21*<area code + target number># | #21# |
| On no answer | *61*<area code + target number># | #61# |
| When busy | *67*<area code + target number># | #67# |
On cable connections (the former Unitymedia/Vodafone cable contracts) Vodafone also lists *62*<area code + target number># for when the router is not operational. On a FRITZ!Box on a cable line, Vodafone says to put *# in front of the codes, for instance *#*21*<area code + target number>#; there you switch it off with *##21#. Vodafone's help pages describe no click path in MeinVodafone for landline or cable (as of 2 November 2026).
Pitfalls: caller ID and cost
Caller ID (CLIP): if your provider's network does the forwarding (key code, app, customer portal), the standard has the destination receive the caller's number. Your own number typically arrives only when a FRITZ!Box or phone system forwards the call itself — and then an assistant cannot capture the caller's number automatically. Check it after setting up, with a call from a second phone.
Vodafone OneNumber: if a smartwatch eSIM shares your mobile number, forwarding on no answer is often never carried out. Remove the pairing, dial ##002# and set the forwarding up again.
Cost: the forwarded leg of the call is paid by the line owner, on the terms of their tariff. On its help page for the UltraHub 7 fibre router, Vodafone points out that additional connection charges apply depending on the tariff — check the price list for your tariff once before forwarding permanently.
The double entry: if you forward by key code and in the router as well, say with a rule in a FRITZ!Box, you quickly lose track. Set the forwarding up in one place — and when in doubt switch off every existing forwarding rule first: on the mobile with ##002#, on the landline with #21#, #61# and #67#.
What this means for your AI assistant
For scoco.ai exactly this forwarding is enough: you keep your Vodafone number, nothing changes on your phone system, and basic setup takes about 10 minutes. When a caller number is transmitted, the assistant offers to use it as the callback number — if the caller accepts, it is taken without being read back; with a CLIP problem, that is your own. A dictated number it reads back digit by digit. Hence the test call from a second phone. A planner in the dashboard shows the right codes, with your scoco number already filled in. Calls are not recorded; what you get are transcripts and summaries.
Frequently asked questions
How do I switch call forwarding off completely at Vodafone?
Type ##002# and press call — that clears every forwarding rule at once, including the one to voicemail (on a mobile, itself a forwarding on no answer). Individual kinds are switched off with ##21#, ##67#, ##61# or ##62#. On a landline or cable connection you switch off with #21#, #61# or #67#, and on a FRITZ!Box on a cable line, according to Vodafone, with *##21#.
Does call forwarding at Vodafone cost extra?
It depends on the tariff: the forwarded call is billed on the terms of your tariff, and on its help page for the UltraHub 7 fibre router Vodafone points out that additional connection charges apply depending on the tariff. The price list for your tariff is what counts — especially on older contracts.
Does this guide apply to my cable connection too?
The kinds of forwarding are the same, the codes are not: on a cable line Vodafone gives landline codes with a single star, such as *21* + area code + target number + #, instead of the two-star mobile codes. On a FRITZ!Box on a cable line, Vodafone says to put *# in front; you switch it off there with *##21#.
Why does the forwarding destination see my number instead of the caller's?
That is the CLIP problem. If your provider's network does the forwarding (key code, app, customer portal), the standard has the destination receive the caller's number. Your own number typically arrives only when a FRITZ!Box or phone system forwards the call itself. Check it after setting up, with a call from a second phone.
