# Review and undo changes

> Every change to an assistant is in its history and can be restored there; the log shows what was changed anywhere in the account.

https://scoco.ai/en/docs/undo-changes/

scoco keeps every change to an assistant's settings and rules as a version: when, by whom and what. The exception is the two rules marked **Managed from Contacts**: they follow your **Contacts** and are changed there. This page covers how to take a change straight back, how to restore an earlier version, how to look up in the log who changed what in the account, and what cannot be undone.

## Right after applying

When you have applied a proposal from [Ask scoco](https://scoco.ai/en/docs/ask-scoco/), the card shows **Undo**. One click brings back the state from before that change, from the next call.

- **Undo** is offered only as long as nothing else has been changed on that assistant since. Otherwise it would take the later change back with it. In that case, go to the history as described below.
- If the change concerned a rule that puts callers through to a phone, or a setting that costs minutes or SMS, undoing it also needs a sign-in within the last 15 minutes.

## In an assistant's history

The history lists every version of an assistant, newest first. The active version is marked **Active**. Each version shows who saved it: the person's e-mail address, followed by "via Ask scoco" when they applied the change through Ask scoco, or **scoco support** when our support changed something. Entries such as **scoco (setup)** come from scoco itself.

1. Open **Assistants** and choose the assistant.
2. Switch to the **History** tab.
3. Click **Compare** on a version. You see what changed compared with the version before it.
4. Click **Restore** on the version that should apply again.
5. Confirm in the dialog with **Restore**.

The restored settings apply from the next call; calls in progress are not affected. They are saved as a new version. Your previous settings stay in the history and can be brought back the same way.

> **Tip:**
>
> A call in the **Inbox** shows which version your assistant handled it with. **View in the history** takes you straight there.

## In the account's log

**Settings › Log** shows who changed what anywhere in the account, and when, including the team, contacts, knowledge and integrations. When a change was applied through Ask scoco, the person's name is followed by "via Ask scoco".

- **Period**, **Person** and **Area** narrow the list down.
- **Export as CSV** downloads the entries you have selected as a spreadsheet, for example for your data protection officer.
- Entries are kept for 24 months. Nobody in your account can delete them.

The log only shows. You take a change back in the assistant's history, or wherever you made it.

## What cannot be undone

- **The status** (**Active**, **Messages only**, **Paused**) has no versions and is in the log. If you changed it through Ask scoco, switch it back with one click on the status, see [Status](https://scoco.ai/en/docs/assistant-status/#ask-scoco).
- **Knowledge** has no versions, so it is not in the history, but it is in the log. You change or delete a new or changed entry in the assistant's **Knowledge** tab, see [Knowledge](https://scoco.ai/en/docs/knowledge/). A deleted document is gone for good: add it again. If it came from your website, the next website import does not bring it back on its own.
- **Calls that have already happened** stay as they were. A restored version applies only to the calls that follow.
- **What has already been sent,** such as a text message to a caller or a notification, is not recalled by a restore.
- **Changes outside an assistant,** for example to the team or billing, are in the log. You change them back where you made them.

## Common problems

**The card has no “Undo”.** The assistant has been changed again since, the change concerned knowledge or the status, or there is no earlier version for scoco to go back to. Restore the version you want in the **History**.

**These settings are already active — nothing changed.** The version you chose already matches the current state.
