# Industry templates

> An industry template sets what a new assistant asks, when it passes a call on and what it never does; you choose it when you create the assistant, and it is fixed afterwards.

An industry template is the ready-made start of an assistant: what it asks, when it passes a call on and what it never does on the phone. When you are done, you know which templates exist, where you choose one, what it sets up and what you change yourself afterwards.

## Which templates exist

- **Trades, plumbing & electrical**
- **Medical & dental practice**
- **Therapy practice**
- **Law firm**
- **Tax firm**
- **Car dealership & garage**
- **Property management**
- **Estate agency**
- **Hair, beauty & wellness**
- **Restaurant & catering**
- **Personal assistant**
- **Another industry**

Most templates set an assistant up as **Reception**: it takes requests, appointment wishes and callback requests for your business. **Personal assistant** sets up **Executive screening** for one person, sorting calls before they reach them. If no industry fits, take **Another industry**.

## Where you choose a template

**Owner** and **Admin** choose templates.

**During setup:** at the **Choose a template** step, one card is already selected. It follows from what is under **Industry** at the **Your company** step; if nothing matches, it is **Another industry**. Choose another card if it fits better. Below the cards you see what the template brings. If it offers rules for your industry, you switch them on and off one by one. The assistant is created when you leave the following step, **Choose a voice**, with **Next**.

**For another assistant:** in the **New assistant** window, choose a card under **Template**; **What's included?** shows what it brings. There the assistant takes the industry's rules as the template suggests them. More under [Several assistants and numbers](https://scoco.ai/en/docs/several-assistants/#create).

## What a template sets up

Below the cards you see what the chosen template brings. A row is missing when the template sets nothing for it:

- **Asks for**: what the assistant asks callers for.
- **Rules**: when it passes a call on, or how it handles sales calls. If nobody is set up yet to put calls through to, it takes an urgent message instead. Only prospects are taken as an ordinary message by **Executive screening** then.
- **Never on the phone**: what it never does, for example give medical assessments.
- **In an emergency**: what it says in an emergency.
- **Appointments**: how long an appointment takes. This only applies once you [connect a calendar](https://scoco.ai/en/docs/connect-calendar/).
- **In the summary**: which details the call summary records in addition.

On top of that come a greeting that says an AI is speaking, and a preset voice. During setup you check both straight away. No knowledge and no business hours: those come from your website or from what you enter yourself, see [Knowledge](https://scoco.ai/en/docs/knowledge/) and [Business hours](https://scoco.ai/en/docs/business-hours/).

## After setup

An assistant's template is fixed once the assistant exists. It cannot be switched or applied again. What the assistant asks, what it never does and what it says in an emergency stay as the template set them. The rest you change one piece at a time:

- Rules under **Behaviour**, see [Rules](https://scoco.ai/en/docs/rules/).
- Greeting under **Behaviour**, see [Change the greeting](https://scoco.ai/en/docs/greeting/).
- Voice under **Voice & language**, see [Voice](https://scoco.ai/en/docs/voice/).
- Appointment length under **Appointments**, once a calendar is connected.

If you want an assistant with a different template, create another one.
