# Set up call forwarding

> You keep your number and forward calls to your scoco number with your provider's ordinary call forwarding — the planner under Settings → Phone numbers generates the exact codes for your provider.

Your customers keep dialling your usual number. You set up your provider's ordinary call forwarding to your scoco number, and your assistant answers the forwarded calls. By the end you will know which forwarding suits you and how to set it up, test it and switch it off again.

## Which forwarding fits?

After your provider, the planner asks **When should your assistant take over?** and offers two answers:

- **When you do not pick up**: your phone rings first. Your assistant only takes the calls you would otherwise miss. This is the default.
- **Always – every call**: every call goes straight to your assistant, for example on holiday or after hours.

On a mobile, the first answer is three separate forwardings, one per situation. The planner ticks all three for you:

| Situation | Example code |
|---|---|
| You do not answer | `**61*<scoco number>*11*20#` |
| You are already on a call (busy) | `**67*<scoco number>#` |
| Your mobile is off or has no signal | `**62*<scoco number>#` |
| Always, every call | `**21*<scoco number>#` |

These are standard GSM codes. Do not copy them from this page: the planner fills in your scoco number and your ring time. On a FritzBox the third situation does not exist, because a landline is never switched off or out of coverage.

## Ring time

When you do not answer, your phone rings for a set time before your assistant takes over: 5 to 30 seconds in steps of 5. The default is 20 seconds. That is enough time to pick up and short enough that nobody hangs up first. Some carriers forward a little earlier than set.

## Set it up

1. Open **Settings › Phone numbers** and go to the **Set up forwarding** card.
2. If you have more than one scoco number, pick the right one under **Forward to**.
3. Choose your line under **Your provider**. The list covers Telekom, Vodafone, o2, 1&1, congstar, easybell, FritzBox and **PBX / other provider (SIP)**. The choice only decides which codes you are shown. Nothing is sent to your provider.
4. Choose when your assistant should take over and set the **Ring time**.
5. **How to set it up** lists your codes. Type each one into your mobile's phone app and tap Call. Your provider briefly confirms it on screen. **Copy** copies a code.

For FritzBox, easybell and a PBX the planner shows the steps in the router or customer portal instead of codes. **Guide as PDF** prints everything. The same guide appears in the setup wizard's **Go live** step.

## Test it

Call your usual number from another phone and do not pick up. Your assistant should answer once the ring time is up. scoco detects the first real call automatically, and the **Activate forwarding** item in the setup list on the **Overview** page then counts as done. Test calls do not count for this.

## Switch it off

**Check or switch off** lists, for each situation, one code to **Check** and one to **Switch off**, for example `*#61#` and `##61#`. `##002#` deletes every forwarding on a mobile at once. On a FritzBox or in a customer portal, delete the forwarding in the same place you created it.

When your scoco contract ends, switch the forwarding off: forwarded calls then reach nobody at your business and, once we have given the scoco number to someone else, another business.

## Common problems

**Vodafone OneNumber.** If a smartwatch eSIM shares your number, forwarding on no answer often never fires. Turn off the pairing, dial `##002#` and set up the forwarding again.

**Your voicemail.** On German mobile networks, voicemail is itself a forwarding on no answer. That is why `##002#` also removes the forwarding to your voicemail.

**You have lost track of what is active.** Dial `##002#` and set the forwarding up again with the planner.

**The assistant takes over too early.** Choose a longer **Ring time**. Carriers count from call setup and often forward a little early.

**A transfer ends up back with the assistant.** If your assistant transfers to a phone that itself forwards to scoco on no answer, the assistant's ring time must be shorter than your carrier's wait. Without a setting of its own, scoco rings for 15 seconds, shorter than the 20 seconds the planner suggests. For a transfer target, open **Assistants › Behaviour** and, in the **Transfer targets** card, enter the seconds under **Your carrier's forwarding**. The dashboard then refuses a ring time that is too long. The dashboard does not check the **Ring time (seconds)** of the **Destination number**: choose it a few seconds shorter than your forwarding yourself.
